AGRICULTURE OFFICER

 

Summary:

 

An Agriculture Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing various aspects of agricultural activities, ensuring sustainable practices, and supporting the development of the agricultural sector.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the overall operations of the Agriculture business unit, including farm management contracting services.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, and identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.

  • Serve as the key point person of clients, addressing their inquiries, resolving issues, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance their agricultural operations.

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between clients and farmers, ensuring smooth implementation of programs, training initiatives, and the adoption of agricultural inputs.

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand our agribusiness, including identifying potential areas for cultivation, conducting feasibility studies, securing land agreements, and managing crop production activities.

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for new partnerships, acquisitions, and business growth.

  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and performance metrics for the Agriculture business unit, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.

  • Lead a team of administrative staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and finance, to align strategies, streamline processes, and maximize business outcomes.

  • Stay updated on advancements in agricultural technology, industry regulations, sustainability practices, and market dynamics to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

 

Educational Background:

  • A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, or a related field is usually a minimum requirement. Some positions may require a master's degree for more specialized roles or higher-ranking positions.

Knowledge Base:

  • In-depth knowledge of agronomy, crop management, soil science, water management, and agricultural economics.

  • Understanding of sustainable agriculture practices and environmental conservation.

  • Familiarity with pest and disease control measures and modern agricultural technologies.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with farmers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges in crop production, soil management, and other agricultural aspects.

  • Strong organizational skills for planning and implementing agricultural programs.

  • Proficiency in using computer applications and agricultural software for data analysis and planning.

  • Know how to drive a motorcycle and/or 4 wheels both automatic and manual

Experience:

  • Practical experience in agriculture through internships, farm work, or related roles is often preferred. Practical experience provides a hands-on understanding of the challenges and nuances of agriculture.

  • Previous work in extension services, agricultural consulting, or research and development is valuable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Tagalog, Cebuano, Visayan, English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be present in the office on work days. Unless otherwise assigned and or directed to you by the direct supervisor and/or employer to have work-related trips outside the office.

  • Must be physically fit

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • In the office as required otherwise in the field.

  • Willing to relocate to the Main Office
