Divided into three regions–Western (Region VI), Central (Region VII), and Eastern (Region VIII)–the Visayas is home to some of the most populous and urbanized cities in the Philippines. These include the regional centers of each area: Iloilo for Region VI, Cebu City for Region VII, and Tacloban City in Region VIII. The Visayas is home to various tourist spots, most notably the beaches of Boracay in Panay. Apo Island, Bohol, the Biri Rock Formations in Samar, and Kalanggaman Island are also prime destinations. This is why the sales and service industries are the leading contributors to the entire Visayas GDP. Other factors to the economic growth in Visayas include the industrial and manufacturing sectors, as well as the construction industry. The BPO industry is also a huge contributor to this growth. The sub-sectors of communications, storage and logistics, and transportation also continue to boost the Visayan economy. In fact, one of the busiest seaports (Port of Cebu) and several of the busiest airports in the country are in the Visayas. Agriculture, forestry, and fishery remain stable industries as well, particularly in Western Visayas where it contributed 17.2% to the 2018 regional output. All of these combined to an average of 6.5% growth of the three administrative regions in 2018. Indeed, the Visayas is a prime spot for promising jobs and careers.
